1-Day Trip to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Three of the world’s last three northern white rhinos live in Ol Pejeta, which is also home to 105 critically endangered black rhinos. The Conservancy has highly trained rhino protection squads, works with international veterinary experts, and makes sure that regular data is collected on each animal. You will also get to see Baraka, a blind rhino, and Kenya’s only remaining chimpanzee in the chimpanzee enclosure.

Overview

1-Day Trip to Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Embark on an enriching full-day safari to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, a 360 km² not-for-profit wildlife sanctuary nestled in Kenya’s Laikipia County. Situated between the foothills of the Aberdares and Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta is renowned for its pioneering conservation efforts and diverse wildlife.

Key Highlights:

Big Five Safari Experience: Ol Pejeta offers sightings of Africa’s iconic Big Five—lions, leopards, elephants, buffalos, and both black and white rhinos—within its expansive savannahs.

Northern White Rhinos: The conservancy is home to the world’s last two remaining northern white rhinos, Najin and Fatu, residing under 24-hour armed protection. Efforts are underway to save this subspecies from extinction through advanced reproductive technologies.

Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary: Established in partnership with the Jane Goodall Institute, this sanctuary provides a haven for orphaned and rescued chimpanzees, offering visitors a unique opportunity to observe these primates in a naturalistic setting.

Conservation and Community Engagement: Beyond wildlife, Ol Pejeta integrates livestock farming with conservation and supports local communities through education, healthcare, and infrastructure projects.

This day trip offers a profound insight into wildlife conservation, making it an ideal excursion for nature enthusiasts and responsible travelers seeking meaningful experiences.
