Overview

12 Days Tanzania Uganda Safari

This 12-day Tanzania and Uganda safari combines the best of East Africa’s wildlife, landscapes, and cultural experiences. The adventure begins in Tanzania, where you’ll explore world-renowned parks like Serengeti National Park, famous for the Great Migration and big cat sightings, and the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site teeming with diverse wildlife in a stunning volcanic caldera.

From Tanzania, the journey continues to Uganda, the “Pearl of Africa.” Here, you’ll visit Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its tree-climbing lions and boat safaris on the Kazinga Channel. The highlight is gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where you’ll come face to face with endangered mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

Throughout the trip, you’ll experience dramatic scenery—from Tanzania’s vast savannahs to Uganda’s lush forests—and encounter Africa’s iconic wildlife, including the Big Five, chimpanzees, and gorillas. This safari is perfect for travelers seeking a rich and varied East African experience that combines classic game drives with primate encounters and cultural discovery.

12 Days Tanzania Uganda Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Uganda – Entebbe International Airport

At the Entebbe International Airport, which serves as the primary entrance to Uganda, you will be picked up by our agent and transferred to the hotel immediately upon your arrival.

2

Day 2: Drive to Kibale National Park

After breakfast at your Kampala hotel, you will leave at 6:30 am for the journey to the Fort Portal Area, which is 300 km away and takes about 5 hours to drive. Along the way, the drive gives you good views of rural areas, towns, the inselbergs of Mubende, swamps, and both natural and planted woods.

After a hot lunch in Fort Portal, you will go on a heritage tour to the Amabere g’ Nnyinamwiru caves, which are thought to be the breasts of Nnyinamwiru, who was the daughter of Bukuku, the self-proclaimed King of the Bachwezi who is said to have kept his daughter from breastfeeding her son out of fear that the child would take his throne.

From the caves, you can walk to Fort Portal Crater lake field, which is one of Uganda’s four explosion craters and a great place to see the sights. Set aside time to rest, eat, and sleep.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will get an introduction to Chimpanzee hiking at the Kanyanchu tourism center at 8 a.m., and then you will go to the tropical forest of Kibale to look for chimpanzees, which are genetically very close to humans. As you walk along the marked path, you can see amazing sights like flowering plants, birds (there are 375 species of birds in the forest), and primates like the Black and White Colobus, Red-tailed Monkey, Vervet Monkey, Baboon, and more.

When you get to the Chimpanzees, you get to spend an entire hour with them watching them do fun things like hunt, guard, make pant-hooting calls, mate, and more. After the 2- to 5-hour activity, you’ll be taken to Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is 157 km away and takes about 3 hours to drive. Along the way, you’ll get to see stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Three to four hours of game drives are followed by a hot lunch on the Mweya peninsula.

Sign up for the 2 p.m. Kazinga Channel boat tour for a two-hour trip along this beautiful natural channel where you might see Nile Crocodiles, Hippos, birds like the saddle-billed stork and African skimmers, and wild animals. Uganda has many different and interesting protected places. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is one of them. With at least 400 Mountain Gorillas, which is about half of the species’ global number, Bwindi is a great place to go trekking for these animals. The trek starts at 8 a.m. from each park station, where park ranger guides give you information.

The gorilla walk lasts between 2 and 8 hours, but you get to see the animals and take pictures for an entire hour. It includes going through beautiful landscapes with steep hills and narrow valleys, full of birds and lush plants.
